Policies

The principles that govern how we receive, disburse, and account for generosity. Questions about any of these? Email info@givesendgo.org.

Charitable discretion

All donations to GiveSendGo Charities, Inc. become the property of the charity. Donor and member cause preferences are advisory only. The Board of Directors retains full charitable discretion over all disbursements consistent with our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt purpose. This is required by IRS rules for tax-deductibility and is standard across community foundations and similar public charities.

Refund policy

Once a donation has been processed and a tax receipt has been issued, refunds are generally not available. Exceptions are made at our discretion in cases of:

  • Demonstrable processing errors (e.g. duplicate charge from a page reload).
  • Unauthorized use of a payment method (in which case we will also work with your card issuer on a chargeback).
  • Mis-keyed amounts reported within 7 days of the gift, where the funds have not yet been disbursed to a recipient.

Recurring monthly subscriptions can be canceled at any time — email info@givesendgo.org and the cancellation is effective immediately. Already-processed past gifts are not retroactively refunded.

Disbursement

Disaster Relief funds are typically disbursed within 30 days of receipt to verified recipients. Care & Relief grants to individuals or families follow a verification process that may take 2–4 weeks. International grants administered through TrustBridge Global Foundation may take additional time for expenditure-responsibility procedures and in-country verification.

Funds raised for a specific named campaign that meaningfully exceed the campaign's need will be redirected to the most-aligned active mission, consistent with the spirit of donor intent and our charitable discretion.

Grant review

Grant applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Decisions factor in:

  • Verified urgent need.
  • Alignment with our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt purpose.
  • Capacity of the recipient to deploy funds responsibly.
  • Availability of funds in the relevant pool.
  • Recipient's status (qualified institutions for international grants, verified individuals for domestic Care & Relief).

We do not guarantee any specific outcome and are not obligated to fund any particular request. Applicants will receive a decision in writing within typically 2–4 weeks of a complete application.

Conflict of interest

Board members, officers, and staff annually disclose any relationships that could create a real or perceived conflict of interest. When a potential conflict arises in a specific grant or contracting decision, the affected person recuses from the discussion and the vote. Our complete conflict-of-interest policy is available on request — email info@givesendgo.org.

Whistleblower policy

Any board member, staff member, contractor, grant applicant, or member of the public may report a suspected violation of policy, fraud, or financial impropriety in good faith without fear of retaliation. Reports may be sent to the Board Chair via info@givesendgo.org. Reports may be made anonymously.

Record retention

Donation records, tax receipts, and grant documentation are retained for a minimum of seven years in accordance with IRS recommendations for 501(c)(3) organizations. Personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy.

Transparency

We publish an impact report with named recipients, amounts, and outcomes for completed grants. Our IRS Form 990 is filed annually and is available at Candid (GuideStar). GiveSendGo Charities holds Candid's 2025 Platinum Seal of Transparency.
